  • This service is aimed toward actively improving the document. Tracked changes, queries, and comments tend to follow a dialog approach. It's a deeper, more interventional level of editing that addresses:

    • Grammar, punctuation, spelling, and syntax

    • Sentence-level clarity and flow

    • Word choice and consistency

    • Style guide compliance (AMA, Chicago, in-house, etc.)

    • Terminology consistency throughout the document

    • Fact-flagging (noting potential inconsistencies for the author to verify)

    • References and citation format (but not validating against manuscript content)

    • Tables, figures, and callouts for consistency with the text

    Rate: $70/hour

  • Service at this level is generally the highest and most interventional tier of editing, addressing the document at a structural and conceptual level. This approach addresses fundamental questions like:

    • Is the argument or narrative logical and well-constructed?

    • Is the structure appropriate for the audience and purpose?

    • Are sections in the right order?

    • Is there content that's missing, redundant, or out of place?

    • Is the scope appropriate — too broad, too narrow?

    • Does the abstract/introduction/conclusion accurately reflect the content?

    • Is the methodology presented clearly and completely?

    • Are the conclusions supported by the data presented?
